We are delighted to inform you that we are now open again! After a 13 week closure, we re-opened the pub on the 9th July and are now slowly adapting to the ‘new normal’. For us, it’s meant a shift in how we operate, with the focus being on how to best protect staff and customers from the risks of COVID-19. If you have visited before, you will notice that our restaurant capacity has been reduced by around half, meaning some tables may remain empty. The bar area is also no longer in use – drinkers are still welcome of course, but we ask that once drinks are purchased that they are taken to a table. Sadly there will be no live music nights for a while yet.

We have put the time spent in lockdown to good use – and refreshed the balcony areas, and fitted some new external heaters, so we can embrace alfresco drinking, even if it’s cooler in the evening. When you visit, you will also notice the 4 sanitiser points around & about, as well as a 1-way system by the bar, to separate the traffic flow, as that’s always a bit of pinch point when we are busy.

Also new for 2020 is a complete menu refresh. We’ve kept the Traditional Pub Classics that we know you love, but Kevin our Fantastic Head Chef has also added some incredible new dishes which are going down extremely well. Both the lunch and evening menus are now shorter than they previously were, so please check the ‘Menu’ tab to view our current offering. If you haven’t visited for a while, then a visit is long overdue!

In order to manage the queues at the door, we are now staggering all arrival times by 10 minutes, so please do arrive promptly to help maintain the carefully calculated visitor flow! As always, we would advise pre-booking a table. We are operating on a pre-booked basis for the lunchtimes & evenings now, and at the moment, we would advise calling us as early as you can before you plan to visit us as we are often fully booked much earlier than usual. We are experiencing a high volume of calls and emails at the moment, and whilst we are doing our best to answer all calls, it’s sometimes tricky to get to the phone during 12-3pm or 5:30-9pm, so try outside of these hours where you can. Please accept our apologies if you haven’t been able to get through. We are working extremely hard to keep up.

We are also participating in the Government ‘Eat out to Help Out’ Scheme which offers a discount on Food & Soft drinks purchased at lunchtime or during the evening Monday – Wednesdays during August. We will apply this discount to your bill at the end. As a result of this offer, we are seeing a higher than normal demand for these days, so again, we would suggest early booking if you can.

Finally, like you, we are all getting used to new things – new procedures, ways of working, and new menus, so please bear with us while we let the dust settle. It’s been a tricky time for all of us, so if there is any feedback from your visit, whether it’s positive or negative, just let us know before you leave! The good news is, it still looks and feels very much like The Kings Arms you know and love. And the beer is ice cold…..

See you soon,

Liz, Paul & The Team xx
